Academic Writing Course

This course is designed for students aged 14 to 16 years old who are studying, or intending to study in an academic environment where English is the primary means of communication. It is particularly relevant to those studying or intending to study IGCSE English Second Language, or students from local schools seeking to later pursue tertiary studies in an English language medium.

The aims of the course are to:

  • develop students’ ability to use English effectively for the purposes of both practical and academic communication
  • enhance specific skills required for academic writing and reading
  • refine students’ study and research skills
  • promote students’ confidence and fluency in both spoken and written English

Primary Writers’ Workshop

This course is designed for students who are Lower Primary-aged native, and highly-fluent non-native speakers of English. It will focus upon improving spelling and writing skills using a range of highly engaging, student-centred activities.

The aims of the course are to:

  • address a range of reading and writing skills consistent with UK Primary School curriculum objectives and SATS examinations
  • enhance students’ ability to write accurately and confidently in a wide range of genres, including instructional, personal narrative, non-chronological reports, story-writing, etc.
  • encourage students to engage with language through the teaching of phonics, spellings and grammar
  • develop portfolios of writing to showcase individual targets and achievement
